Scholarship Fundraising Cruise - February 26, 2026

The Scholarship Fundraising Cruise was truly awesome! Members, families , and friends left Tampa, Florida in great expectation.  Some of the "newbies" to cruising were very excited. From delicious cuisine to relaxing on the beach, games, shows, spa time and everything in between, the cruisers definitely had a wonderful time. Cruising with us was Reverend Kenneth Buie of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, who facilitated a Sunday morning service that was spirit filled. One cruiser won a gold record for her participation in "Name That Tune". Congratulations Cynthia! Another cruiser was recognized for his service in the military. Congratulations Chris!

It was a cruise that generated funds for the Scholarship Program. The Club will continue awarding needed funds for the community's high school graduates. Thank you everyone!

Black History Month Celebration - Living Griots - February 5, 2026

The African American History celebration was very informative and a good time was had by everyone.

The guest speaker Dr. Viennesse Timmons-Black was the official griot for the day. She told the history of the Spring Hill Cemetery in Brooksville, FL and other notable history moments in Brooksville and Spring Hill. The Cemetery is a historic site that is being preserved and restored to honor the ancestors who are buried there. Additionally, a film of one of Dr. Ralph Abernathy's speeches that contained timely words that are truly apropos for the time in which we are now living  was shared by the Black History Month Committee.

Recognition was given to the Life Members who are 90 years young or older. They are Beatrice Colbert, Howard Brown, Irma Ramsey, Colinnettee and Donell Spears.
